COLLEGE PARK, Md. –  Senior Alyssa Thomas of eighth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team (10-1) was named ACC Player of the Week Monday for the 16th weekly honor from the conference in her career.

Thomas was named ACC Rookie of the Week seven times in the 2010-11 season and since then, has been voted Player of the Week nine times, including twice this year. She has more weekly honors than any player in Maryland women’s basketball history.

Against Siena on Dec. 9, Thomas finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in just 20 minutes to mark her third career triple-double and seventh overall in Maryland basketball history. She is the only player in league history with three triple-doubles for her career.  She has 10 straight double-doubles in the Terps’ 11 games this year and is the only player in the country with 10.

Thomas finished the week with an 18-point and 10-rebound effort in Maryland’s win over Delaware State. After fighting through foul trouble early in the game, Thomas turned it on in the second half and scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

The Terrapins are ranked No. 8 in the latest Associated Press and USA Today National Coaches polls.
