COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Postgame notes following the University of Maryland women's basketball team's 72-52 win over Quinnipiac in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.


- Maryland is making its 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament and ninth under head coach Brenda Frese. The Terrapins improved to 32-19 all-time in the tournament and 20-7 with Frese. The Terps are 9-2 in NCAA Tournament games in Comcast Center.

- The Terps hit just two of their first 10 shots, but finished strong by knocking down seven of their last 10 in the first half.

- After trailing 21-12, Maryland used a 9-0 run to tie it up and outscored Quinnipiac 15-2 over the final seven minutes of the first half.

- Alyssa Thomas recorded her 20th double-double of the season and 39th of her career with 29 points and 13 rebounds. It was also her third in seven NCAA Tournament games. With Thomas' five free throws today, she has made 169 this year to pass Marissa Coleman's school record of 166 set in 2007-08.

- Tianna Hawkins had her 16th double-double of the season and 40th of her career with 23 points and 16 rebounds. It was her third in seven NCAA Tournament games.

- Katie Rutan and Alicia DeVaughn set career highs for rebounds. Rutan had 11 and DeVaughn had 17.

- Quinnipiac entered the game 25 nationally in scoring offense (71.1) but was held to 52 by Maryland.

- Maryland held a 59-41 rebounding advantage and has outrebounded 31 of 32 teams this season.
