COLLEGE PARK, Md – The Maryland football team welcomed the Casey Cares Foundation to the on-campus practice facility for the eleventh day of preseason camp Thursday.
The Terps played host to seven-year-old Shauna and three-year-old Parker who took in practice prior to joining the Terps for lunch afterwards at the Gossett Football Team House.
“We’re really happy to have the two kids from Casey Cares here today spending some time with us to get their minds off of their health issues that they have,” head coach Randy Edsall said. “It makes our guys appreciate what they have afforded to them a little bit more.”
Shauna is on treatment at Johns Hopkins for Wilms Tumor and attended practice with her mom and three siblings. She attended camp last year and befriended wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Parker is on treatment at Children’s Hospital for Leukemia. He came to camp with his mom and dad, and his five-year-old brother Dillon.
The Casey Cares Foundation provides uplifting and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families throughout DC, Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region.
