Three Things We Learned: Week Three

#1 Schillo Tshuma is a Tar Heel Killer

With two goals against North Carolina last Friday, Schillo Tshuma now has four scores against the Tar Heels in his young career.

Tshuma also has a flair for the dramatic against rival UNC. As a freshman, he notched the gamewinner in the first overtime against North Carolina at home and then netted the eventual gamewinner in the 62nd minute as the Terps captured the ACC tournament title in Germantown.

#2 You Can’t Teach Experience

Might not seem like much, but there’s a lot to be said for one year under the belt. Sophomore Dakota Edwards made his return to the lineup in the second half on Friday at North Carolina and from that moment on, a calm seemed to fall over the backline. The defense was able to hold the Tar Heels off the board for the final 90 minutes of the match.

The Terps are full of talent in the back – albeit extremely young - and with the return of Edwards, Maryland has grown up a bit as well.

#3 It’s a Long Season

We are only a mere five games into the season and the team has showed us a little bit of everything in 2013. With all things considered, Maryland is weathering a storm of youth and a fierce early-season schedule.

Hang in there fans, it’s going to be quite the ride.
