The University of Maryland women’s cross country team will kick off a competitive 2013 schedule on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals in Emmitsburg, Md.
That meet is the first of four primers for the Terrapins prior to heading into postseason competition.
Following the Mount St. Mary’s Duals, Maryland’s harriers will compete at the Navy Salty Dog Invitational in Annapolis on Sept. 14 before stepping up in competition at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 5. The Paul Short Invitational will serve as a preview of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional which will be held on the same course on Nov. 15.
The Terps finish up their 2013 regular season at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 19.
The regular-season meets will have prepared Maryland well as it then heads to its final ACC Championships, which will be held in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Nov. 1.
Following the Mid-Atlantic Regional, the season concludes at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23 at Terre Haute, Ind.
"I am looking forward to sending off our senior class with a strong cross country season,” said Maryland head coach Andrew Valmon, who is entering his 11th season at the helm of the Terrapin program. “They will help to lead this team throughout the fall.”
