GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior guard Dez Wells has been named Third Team All-ACC by both the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) and coaches’ polls as announced today.

Wells ranks 10th in the ACC with 15.4 points per game in conference play, while shooting better than 50 percent from the field. It is his first career All-ACC team honor. In the past, he has earned 2013 First Team All-ACC Tournament Team honors and 2012 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman at Xavier.

“Dez has been our team leader and our most consistent player,” said head coach Mark Turgeon. “This is a well-deserved honor.”

The coaches’ team was selected by the league’s 15 head coaches. Voting took place during the final week of the ACC regular season and was based on regular-season performance.

Wells and the Terrapins return to action Thursday at noon against Florida State in their final ACC Tournament. Maryland split the regular season series with the Seminoles this season, with both teams winning their respective home games.
