Eric Hayes is in his second season as a graduate assistant for the University of Maryland men’s basketball team.

Hayes played four years for the Terps, three of which included a NCAA Tournament bid. He helped lead Maryland to the second round of the tournament his freshman, junior and senior seasons.

Dangerous beyond the arc, Hayes ended his college career with a .390 percentage on 3-pointers. He ties for seventh in all-time Maryland history for 3-point field goals made in a single season (64 in 2009-10).

Additionally, Hayes was a dominant force at the charity stripe. He currently holds the all-time record for best career free throw percentage (.860, 185 of 215).

He also finished sixth all-time for assists with 513, one of only six people to reach the 500 assists milestone.

After graduating from Maryland, Hayes spent a year 2010-11 overseas playing for CB Broegán in Spain and Neptunas in Lithuanai. He then spent a few months in 2012 in the NBA Development League with the Canton Charge, which is Cleveland’s team.

Hayes graduated with an undergraduate degree in family science and is currently enrolled in the urban and minority education graduate program at Maryland. He is set to earn his master's degree in the spring.
