Scouting the Terps

-On the season, the Terps are hitting .268 on the road with a .354 OBP and .348 slugging. But in the last 10 road contests, Maryland has seen an upswing in those numbers. The Terps' BA has increased to .279 with a .372 OBP and .371 slugging. Maryland has 43 extra-base hits away from home on the year, with 26 of those coming during the 10-game stretch.

-Maryland has faced a daunting road schedule this season. Of its six weekend opponents including Clemson, five are currently ranked in the Baseball America Top 25 including four in the top 10 (No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 LSU, No. 5 NC State, No. 7 Virginia).

-Maryland has recorded at least one stolen base in five of the its last nine games including two multi-steal games. The Terps continue to be one of the most aggressive teams in the country on the basepaths. The Terps lead the ACC with 91 steals, a total which is tied for 15th nationally. NC State is the next closest team in the conference with 86 SBs.

-Charlie White leads the ACC in steals (37) and ranks second nationally trailing Campbell's Ben McQuown by six. White is averaging 0.77 steals per game and has swiped 12 bags in 24 ACC games, which is the second-highest total in the conference. By stealing his 34th base of the season against Mt. St. Mary's (4/17), White became Maryland's all-time single-season stolen base leader.

-White enters the weekend three stolen bases shy of Maryland's career record. The sophomore's 59 career stolen bases is tied for 27th nationally among active players.

-Jimmy Reed threw his first career complete game shutout in the Terps' 1-0 victory over Duke last Friday earning him ACC Pitcher of the Week honors. Reed has gone the distance in two of his last five starts and pitched nine innings of scoreless baseball in the squad's 13-inning loss to Miami (4/12). Reed is one of five pitchers in the conference to throw two complete games in league action, and is one of six to toss a shutout.

-Jake Stinnett, Sunday's projected starter, has had two superb road starts since moving from the bullpen (at George Mason, 4/10; at Duke, 4/28). In those two games, Stinnett did not allow an earned run and struck out eight combined over 14 innings, while posting a .196 opponent batting average.

-Since his April 3 start against Rider, Stinnett has posted a team-best 1.54 ERA and is 4-1 with a 3.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Stinnett threw his first complete game in a 4-1 win at Duke on Sunday.

-With a grand slam at Towson (4/24), LaMonte Wade became the first Terrapin to record a grand slam since Dan Benick hit one at Virginia on April 4, 2009. It is also marked Wade's first career home run.

-Kevin Mooney registered his eighth save in the Terps' 4-2 win at Liberty on Wednesday tying him with Brett Cecil and Jimmy Reed for the second-most saves in a single-season in program history. Cecil holds the record with 13 in 2006. Reed had eight saves in 2012 before moving to the weekend rotation.
