Haines Added as Volunteer Assistant

Corey Haines served as a volunteer and student assistant with the Terps from 2009-11

Corey Haines joins the Maryland coaching staff for the 2013 season after spending one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa.

Prior to the 2012 season, Haines spent three years as a volunteer and student assistant baseball coach with the Terps.

Haines served as the head coach of the Alexandria Aces in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League in 2011 and 2012, where he instructed some of the best amateur collegiate players from across the country.

As a player, Haines spent two seasons as a second baseman with Cecil College, appearing in the regional championship in 2007 and winning the Maryland JUCO state title in 2008. He also played with the Cecil American Legion, winning state legion championships in 2006 and 2007.

A native of Elkton, Md., Haines is a graduate of North East High School. He earned four varsity letters with the Indians, winning a Maryland 2A state championship in 2006.

Haines graduated from Maryland in 2011 with a degree in kinesiology.
