Stony Brook, N.Y. - The No. 3 Maryland Terrapins used a seven-goal first quarter to build a 7-1 advantage en route to a 16-4 win over Stony Brook Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium. The first-ever meeting between the two teams was all Maryland as the Terps broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 14 straight goals to remain undefeated and run their record to 4-0. The loss drops Stony Brook to 1-3.

Brian Hunt put the Terps up 1-0 at 12:53 of the first quarter off a feed from Mike Mollot but Stony Brook's Jason Cappadoro answered with his seventh goal of the season to even the score at 1-1 at the 9:21 mark. Maryland responded with 12 unanswered goals to close out the first half, four of them set up by Mollot. The Tewaaraton Trophy candidate had a goal and four assists in the first half as Maryland took a 13-1 lead into the break.

After Maryland extended the lead to 15-1 early in the third, George LaFlare ended the Stony Brook drought with back-to-back goals to get SB within 15-3. Kyle Hacker scored his first goal as a Seawolf at 4:19 of the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

Mollot finished with a game-high five points while Hunt totaled four points (2g, 2a) on the afternoon. Ian Healy, Justin Smith, Sean Leary, Jamie Daue and Andrew Schwartzman each scored twice as 10 different Terrapins recorded a goal in the win. Danny McCormick made five saves to earn the victory in goal.

LaFlare led the way for SB with his pair of goals, the fourth straight game in which he has recorded a point. Jeff Slater made six saves and Errol Wilson stopped nine shots in relief of Slater.
