CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The fourth-ranked Maryland field hockey team was edged at No. 7 Virginia, 3-2, after a late goal in the 55th minute by the Cavaliers. The Terps (7-2, 2-1 ACC), earned three penalty corners in the final minute, but the Hoos' defense broke up the plays.

After the game was tied at half, freshman Anna Dessoye gave Maryland a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute when Megan Frazer found her along the left side. UVA's Vittese tied it up six minutes later with a high shot.

Vittese found Paige Selenski, both Olympians this past summer, for the Cavaliers' third goal two minutes after they tied it up.

The Terps had 10 penalty corners to the Cavaliers' five and the shots were tied at 12 apiece.

Goalkeeper Natalie Hunter tied her career high six saves.
