Convissar Named to Academic All-District Team

COLLEGE PARK, Md. University of Maryland senior Kyle Convissar has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Baseball Team for District II as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.

It is the second time Convissar has been named to the 11-person team. To be a candidate for the award, a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and be a starter or key reserve on his team.

A native of Severna Park, Md., Convissar is majoring in finance with a 3.99 GPA and is scheduled to graduate this spring. A three-time All-ACC Academic selection, Convissar is hitting .267 with four doubles, a home run and 15 RBI this spring.

Convissar was named to the team as a designated hitter where he has started 21 games for the Terps. The players honored on one of the eight All-District teams are eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on May 30.
