COLLEGE PARK, Md. The Maryland baseball team wrapped up its 2013 fall season on Tuesday with the last game of its Fall World Series at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.

The two squads, the Old Liners and Aggies, began play on Saturday. The Old Liners won two of the three games. Tuesday’s contest ended in a 5-5 tie.

The Old Liners took game one on Saturday scoring both of its runs in the first inning and riding the arms of freshman Michael Shawaryn and junior Ben Brewster to a 2-1 victory. In the first, sophomore Kevin Martir singled to score junior Andrew Amaro, who led off the inning with a single, and senior Kyle Convissar came home on a throwing error.

That is all the Old Liners would need as Shawaryn pitched four innings of no-hit ball with three strikeouts. Brewster came on to earn the save.

Sophomore LaMonte Wade scored the lone run for the Aggies after freshman John Mazza singled in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore Jake Drossner pitched four innings of no-hit baseball with seven strikeouts in relief of senior starter Jake Stinnett.

On Sunday, the Old Liners struck quickly after Amaro drew a walk to lead off the game and stole second and third, two of his four stolen bases on the day. Convissar tallied the first of two RBI by driving in Amaro. The Old Liners added another run in the second inning on a RBI single by sophomore Anthony Papio scoring freshman Matt Oniffrey.

Martir finished with two hits, a run and a RBI, while junior transfer Tim Lewis and freshman Mike Rescigno each had a RBI in support of junior starter Bobby Ruse. Ruse threw four innings of one-hit ball giving up one earned run to get the win. Freshman Chase Brewis and Brewster combined for three innings of no-hit ball in relief.

Freshman Nick Cieri drove in the lone run for the Aggies scoring Wade.

In the final game on Tuesday, the Old Liners erupted for five runs in the second with Lewis, sophomore Brandon Lowe, Martir, Rescigno and senior Blake Schmit all scoring. The inning was capped by a two-RBI double from Lewis and a two-run home run to center by Schmit. Rescigno also pitched 2-2/3 innings of no-hit ball in relief.

After doubling in the second, freshman Bradley Keith scored on a hit by junior Charlie White to get the Aggies on the board in the second. In the third, Cieri, Keith and Wade all scored on hits by freshman Patrick Hisle and Mazza. Cuas doubled to lead off the fifth and later scored on a double by Mazza. With the winning run at second, the Old Liners’ Brewster entered from the bullpen to preserve the tie.
