Rising junior Thea LaFond earned a bronze medal for her performance in the high jump at the Pan Am Junior Championships held in Medellin, Colombia.  The event featured the top junior level athletes between the ages of 16-19 years old from all over the world.

LaFond, who notched All-American honors in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the spring, set her sights on competing on the world stage this summer.  At the Pan Am Junior Championships, LaFond brought home a bronze medal in the high jump as she competed for her native country, Dominica.  Her height of 1.76m (5'9 1/4") matched the top two competitors.

In addition, LaFond competed in the triple jump competition where she placed seventh.
