LOS ANGELES – Maryland women’s lacrosse sophomore midfielder Taylor Cummings has earned a nomination for Best Female College Athlete at the 2014 ESPYS, announced Tuesday.
Cummings, the only sophomore in history to win the Tewaaraton Award, led the Terrapins to a 23-1 record en route to their second national championship in the last five seasons.
A member of the U.S. national team, Cummings recorded IWLCA First Team All-America honors for a second straight season and paced Maryland in goals scored (63), draw controls (128), ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (30).
She joins Morgan Brian (Virginia soccer), Micha Hancock (Penn State volleyball), Hannah Rogers (Florida softball) and Breanna Stewart (UConn basketball) as a nominee for the award.
