COLLEGE PARK, Md. Head coach Sasho Cirovski and the Maryland men’s soccer program announced the 2014 fall schedule, the Terrapins’ first as a member of the Big Ten Conference, Friday.

In addition to a competitive conference slate which will feature home games against Big Ten foes Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State and Ohio State, the Terps will play host to seven additional matches at Ludwig Field including 2013 NCAA tournament squads Coastal Carolina, UMBC, VCU, and Georgetown.

After a pair of exhibitions at Akron (Aug. 18) and versus Delaware (Aug. 23), the Terps travel to Kentucky to play Louisville in its stadium opener Aug. 29. Maryland welcomes Coastal Carolina and UMBC for its first homestand of the year on Sept. 1 and Sept. 5, respectively.

Following a brief trip to Annapolis for a game against Navy Sept. 8, Maryland opens its inaugural Big Ten season with match at Michigan Sept. 12. Maryland opens league play at home Sept. 19 when Michigan State visits Ludwig Field for the first time since a thrilling contest in 2010.

Maryland welcomes Dayton for a midweek match Sept. 22 before hosting Wisconsin Sept. 26. The Terps cap the four-game homestand with a highly-anticipated rematch of the 2012 national semifinals with a game against Georgetown Sept. 30.

After a trip to Northwestern Oct. 5, Maryland heads into another three-game homestretch with matches against VCU (Oct. 8), Penn State (Oct. 12), and Lehigh (Oct. 15).

Maryland travels to Bloomington, Ind., for one of the most intriguing games on the schedule as the Terps meet fellow NCAA perennial power Indiana Oct. 19. The Terps then return home for three consecutive games including Santa Clara (Oct. 25), Hartwick (Oct. 28), and Ohio State (Nov. 1), before traveling to Rutgers on Nov. 5 for the regular season finale.

“Once again, we have put together a great schedule that will challenge our team and excite our fans,” Cirovski said. “We have great respect for all of the Big Ten teams and are really looking forward to seeing new places and creating new rivalries as we enter this new chapter for our great University. In addition, we have great balance throughout our schedule and some local flavor as we will take on three programs that are among the top in the nation.”

Maryland returns nine starters from a year ago, when the Terps advanced to a second straight College Cup.
