Kortney Norris joined the University of Maryland coaching staff in May 2009 on the heels of an outstanding four-year career at the University of Dayton, three of which came under the tutelage of Maryland head coach Tim Horsmon.

Norris was a three-year captain for Horsmon and a key member of two Atlantic 10 Conference championship teams and two NCAA Tournament teams. She recorded 621 kills, 410 digs and 103 blocks at outside hitter in three seasons for the Flyers, before missing her final season due to injury.

Norris served as a student assistant coach her fourth year a Dayton, helping the Flyers to a 21-13 record and a third NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons.

At Maryland, Norris serves as the team's primary trainer of outside hitters. Her duties also include recruiting, coordinating the team's travel, working summer camps and acting as the staff's liaison with the academic support office.

Originally from Indianapolis, Norris was a standout in volleyball and track at Bishop Chatard High School. Norris was a three-time all-state volleyball selection in Indiana, earning first-team honors as a senior. Norris was a three-time all-city selection and was twice named an Indiana all-star. In track, Norris was also a three-time all-state selection and two-time all-city choice.
