COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men's lacrosse coach John Tillman has released the Terps' 2014 schedule. The schedule features seven games against teams ranked among the preseason Top 20, and seven home games scheduled for Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.

“We have, and always will, have one of the toughest and most challenging schedules in the country and this year is no exception,” said Tillman, who is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Terrapin program. “We also want to get into key areas that are important for our fans and alumni and this year’s schedule does just that. We’re especially pleased to have the opportunity to play two games in New York where many of our current players are from and where many of our alums are from and still live. It’s also exciting to get out to the Midwest, which is an emerging area for lacrosse.”

The Terps are coming off last year's 10-4 campaign that saw them reach the NCAA tournament for the 11th-straight season, which is the longest active streak in Division I men’s lacrosse.

Following two preseason scrimmage dates, the 2014 schedule kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 8 vs. Mount St. Mary’s. Maryland then hosts UMBC on Saturday, Feb. 15 to mark the first time since 2011, and just the fifth time since 2000, that the Terps have started a season with back-to-back home games.

The following weekend finds Maryland hitting the road for the first time in 2014 when it heads north to play its ACC opener at Syracuse on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The Terps return to College Park to host the defending national champion Duke Blue Devils on Saturday March 1.

Maryland will then play at Stony Brook for the first time since 2003 on Saturday, March 8 when the Terps travel to Stony Brook, N.Y., to face the Seawolves at Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium.

The Terps will host Villanova on Friday, March 14 before heading out for a two-game road trip that finds Maryland playing at future Big Ten foe Michigan for the first time on Tuesday, March 18 and playing its final ACC game at North Carolina on Saturday, March 22.

Maryland welcomes Virginia to Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium on Sunday, March 30 and will then have a quick turnaround when it hosts high-scoring Robert Morris on Wednesday, April 2.

The 111th meeting of “Lacrosse’s Greatest Rivalry” will be played on Saturday, April 12 when the Terrapins take on Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field.

Maryland wraps up its 2014 road schedule at Notre Dame on Saturday, April 19 when it plays a regular-season game in South Bend, Ind., for the first time since 2003.

The ACC tournament will be held at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., and will be a three-day event spanning April 25-27. The semifinals will be held on Friday, April 25 with matchups of the No. 1 and No 4 seeds and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. The winners of those two games will play for the ACC tournament championship on Sunday, April 27. The teams finishing fifth and sixth in the ACC standings will face each other in a game at the tournament site on Saturday, April 26.

The annual meeting with Navy will take place on Saturday, May 3, which will also be the Terps’ Senior Day.

The 2014 NCAA tournament will feature an 18-team format with two play-in games between the four lowest-ranked automatic qualification teams. Following the play-in games, which have not had a date announced, the tournament’s first round is set to begin on the weekend on May 10-11 at campus sites.

The quarterfinals of the tournament will be held at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y., on Saturday, May 17 and at Delaware Stadium in Newark, Del., on Sunday, May 18.

The Final Four returns to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The semifinals will take place on Saturday, May 24, while the championship game will be played on Monday, May 26.
