KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Maryland women’s basketball great Jasmina Perazic will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the six-member class of 2014 next June. Perazic was an All-American in 1983 and is Maryland’s fourth inductee, behind her coach Chris Weller, Vicky Bullett and Tara Heiss.

Perazic led the Terps to the 1982 NCAA Final Four and a final ranking of No. 3 in the country. She was named a 1983 Kodak All-American and co-ACC tournament MVP. She is in the top 20 of the Maryland record books with 1,396 career points and led the Terrapins to three straight ACC titles (1981, 1982 and 1983). Her No. 4 jersey still hangs in the rafters at Comcast Center.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and honor for Jaz,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “She had an amazing career here at the University of Maryland, where her name and number hang in the rafters. Not only was she a terrific individual player, but she was a member of multiple championship teams. She was also a winner internationally where she won multiple medals in various competitions. Simply stated, her resume is amazing and worthy of this honor. We are really happy for her and her family.”

Perazic was a two-time member of the Yugoslavian Olympic Team leading them to the bronze medal in 1980. She played one season in the WNBA for the New York Liberty.

Other members of the class include Lin Dunn (coach), Michelle Edwards (player), Mimi Griffin (contributor), Yolanda Griffith (player), and Charlotte West (contributor).
