COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a three-week hiatus, the Maryland women's tennis team will travel down to North Carolina this weekend to face ACC foes UNC and Duke.
Saturday's match pits the Terps (3-5, 0-3 ACC) against the No. 8 ranked Duke Blue Devils (13-2, 1-0 ACC) in Durham, N.C. at 1 p.m. The weekend doesn't get any easier for Maryland as it travels to nearby Chapel Hill for a matchup against the top-ranked Tar Heels (14-3, 1-0 ACC). That match also begins at 1 p.m.
Both schools feature plenty of highly-ranked talent. North Carolina's Katrina Tsang and Sanaz Marand are both ranked in the top 50 in single's competition at No. 42 and No. 47, respectively. Duke boasts one top 50 singles player in Ellah Nza (No. 36) and three more players ranked in the top 125.
Maryland freshman Burce Kurkan hopes to continue her successful season this weekend. She's posted a 4-2 dual record thus far, going 2-0 at No. 5 singles.
In their last outing, the Terps scored an impressive 6-1 victory over Columbia in College Park and will hope to build on that momentum this weekend.
