COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team beings its 2011 fall schedule in Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend at the Cissie Leary Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The tournament beings Friday, Sept. 23, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 25. Including Maryland, nine schools will participate in the event which features a 64-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles draw.

New head coach Dianne Matias, who served as an assistant coach in 2010-11, will send two Terps to the tournament, senior Jordan Hansbrough and junior Ana Belzunce.

Belzunce is the invitational's top seed and received a bye in the opening round. Belzunce will face the winner of Columbia's Renata Arshavskaya and Penn State's Maria Prishlyak in the second round Friday afternoon. Belzunce will be looking to build upon her strong 2010-11 season in which the junior compiled a singles record of 25-12, 16-7 dual meets, playing primarily at No. 2 singles where she went 11-5.

Hansbrough will open the tournament against Cornell's Lauren Frazier. The Kennesaw, Ga., native finished 11-20 at singles last season, 5-4 at the No. 5 position including a win over Samantha Rosekrans of then 46th-ranked Harvard.

Hansbrough excelled at doubles last season finishing with a 17-12 mark, 11-9 in dual doubles. Belzune and Hansbrough will team up to compete in the doubles draw. The duo received the fourth seed and will play Cornell's Sarah O'Neil and Ryann Young in the opening round.

The Terps finished 13-10 last spring with a 3-8 ACC mark. Maryland earned a bid to the NCAA Championship where the Terrapins lost to Washington in the first round.
