COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The nationally-ranked Maryland women's tennis team will head to Williamsburg, Va., Wednesday to face the No. 25 William & Mary Tribe at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The match gets underway at 3 p.m.
The Terps are currently ranked No. 33 and 6-0 on the season, while William & Mary is 5-0 and coming off a win over No. 35 Purdue Sunday.
The Terrapins are fresh off their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season, a 5-2 triumph Sunday over Boston College. The Terps also beat Old Dominion, 4-3, Saturday.
Sophomore Michal Amir remains undefeated this spring in both singles and doubles play for the Terrapins with a 12-0 record. Senior Marianne Baker, who is currently ranked No. 75 nationally in singles, holds a 5-1 singles record in the spring and is 5-0 in doubles.
The Terps' freshmen class strongly contributed to the team's two most recent wins. Elyse Steiner won both her singles and doubles matches last weekend. Steiner also clinched the Terps' win over Old Dominion with her victory against Jana Kubicikova (6-1, 6-1). Lisa Miller secured the Terrapins' win over Boston College with her victory over Gia Nafarette (6-0, 6-1).
Maryland will return home this weekend to play host to Richmond at 1 p.m. Saturday and No. 12 Virginia Commonwealth at noon Sunday. Both matches will take place at the Tennis Center at College Park.
