Women's Tennis Drops Match To No. 13 North Carolina, 6-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of Maryland women's tennis team lost to No. 14 North Carolina, 6-1, Sunday in Chapel Hill. The Terrapins are now 8-9 overall, 0-5 in ACC play.

Freshman Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania) won her singles match at the No. 1 position, giving the Terrapins the point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Kate Pinchbeck. Juniors Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabrecte, France) both took their opponents to three sets in their singles matches, but were not able to notch victories.

But and senior Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) posted a doubles victory for the Terrapins, beating UNC's Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline, 9-7.

Maryland returns to the court Wednesday, April 9, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the University of Virginia. That match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
