PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Jordan Hansbrough and junior Ana Belzunce won their first two matches of the doubles draw at the Cissie Leary Invitational Friday to advance to the quarterfinals. The pair will resume play Saturday morning.
The duo knocked off Cornell's Sarah O'Neil and Ryann Young in the first round and defeated Delaware's Samantha Carnall and Christina Harrington, 8-4, in the round of 16.
Hansbrough and Belzunce will take on Penn State's Fernanda Perrotta and Chelsea Utting in the quarterfinals.
In singles action, Belzunce received a first-round bye and will take on Cornell's Renata Arshavskaya Saturday morning in the second round.
Hansbrough lost to Cornell's Lauren Frazier, 6-4, 6-4, and will enter the consolation draw. The senior will face Drexel's Mel Reyes Saturday who lost to Pennsylvania's Daniela DePaoli in her opening round match.
