COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team got its four-match homestand off to an impressive start.
The Terrapins captured five of the six singles matches in cruising to a 6-1 win over Georgetown Wednesday afternoon.
All five of the wins came in straight sets including Lexi Brand's 6-3, 6-1 victory over Samantha Martin at No. 5 singles which clinched the match for the Terps (4-11).
Maryland also dominated at doubles winning all three matches from the Hoyas (6-11) who had their three-match winning streak snapped.
Brand and Jordan Hansbrough clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 win over Georgetown's Alex Sebia and Samantha Martin at the No. 2 position.
The Terps continue the homestand Friday when they play host to No. 50 North Carolina State. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.
Maryland will face Richmond at 2 p.m. Saturday and close out the regular season on Sunday when 23rd-ranked Wake Forest visits College Park. The match vs. the Demon Deacons will begin at 11 a.m. and serve as Senior Day as Miller and Maggie MacKeever will be making their final home appearances.
