Women's Tennis Loses At Home To Georgia Tech, 6-1

March 30, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's tennis dropped an ACC contest at home in College Park on Sunday, losing to Georgia Tech, 6-1.

Freshman Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania) won her singles match at the No. 1 position for the Terrapins, beating Georgia Tech's Catherine Gunn in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

But was also victorious in her doubles match, as she and senior Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) defeated Jaime Wong and Kelly Anderson, 8-4.

The Terps had to forfeit the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches for the third straight match because they are playing without freshman Andreea Fusea (Bucharest, Romania).

Maryland returns to the court on Saturday, Apr. 5, when they travel to Durham, N.C., to take on the Duke Blue Devils. That match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
