Terps Continue ACC Slate at Home

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 73 Maryland women's tennis team welcomes No. 21 Georgia Tech and No. 22 Clemson to College Park this weekend for a pair of ACC matches. The Terps and Yellow Jackets tangle Friday, March 23 at 1 p.m. The Terps face the Tigers on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Cole Field House Tennis Courts.

In singles for the Terps (6-7, 0-3 ACC), No. 41 Cristina Stancu has won 6 of 7 including a victory over 15th-ranked Emily Fraser of Virginia on Saturday. Stancu has six victories over ranked opponents this year and is 9-4 in dual action.

Junior Ana Belzunce has won 5 of 7 matches and is also 9-4 in dual play.

Sophomore Welma Luus is 5-8 while splitting time between the No. 3 and 4 positions. Junior Vroni Van Berlo is 5-2 at the No. 4 spot and has played one match at No. 3.

Senior Jordan Hansbrough has played the majority of the season at No. 5, but moved down to No. 6 against USF and Virginia. Freshman Mikele Irazusta is 7-5 in dual action.

In doubles, 20th-ranked Belzunce and Luus are 6-2 against nationally-rated opponents and have won 4 of 5.

Last Time Out
Belzunce and Luus upended 16th-ranked Fraser and Xi Li of Virginia in doubles play and Stancu dispatched of No. 15 Fraser in singles action, but the Terps fell to then-No. 7 Virginia, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville.

Series History
Maryland trails the all-time series with Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are 19-15 against the Terps, but Maryland won last year's meeting in Atlanta, 4-3.

Clemson is 29-3 against Maryland all-time. The Tigers won last year's matchup in Clemson, 5-2.

The Tigers arrive in College Park following a 4-3 defeat to No. 10 Baylor on Tuesday, but have won 2 of 3 including a victory over No. 21 Georgia Tech.

Clemson has three players ranked in the top 125 led by 47th-ranked Keri Wong. Wong has played primarily at the No. 2 position with a record of 12-1. Wong is 5-5 against ranked opponents.

No. 103 Klara Vyskocilova and No. 112 Nelly Ciolkowski have split time at the No. 3 and 4 spots. Vyskocilova is 16-6 this year and 9-4 in dual action. Ciolkowski is 15-8 overall and 8-5 this spring.

In doubles, No. 17 Wong and Josipa Bek are 4-1 this spring and have won two in a row.

The Yellow Jackets lost 5-2 at No. 6 Miami on Wednesday after winning consecutive road matches at No. 64 Auburn and at No. 40 Florida State.

No. 22 Jillian ONeill has played the entire season at No. 1. O'Neill has won 7 of 10 matches and s 5-5 against ranked opponents this year.

No. 86 Elizabeth Kilborn and No. 95 Caroline Lilley have each played at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Kilborn is 8-6 in dual play while Lilley is 2-2.

The Jackets top doubles team is ninth-ranked O'Neill and Alex Anghelescu. The tandem is 9-7 this year with five wins over ranked opponents.
