CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The University of Maryland women's tennis team narrowly missed posting its first ACC win of the season Wednesday, losing to No. 32 Virginia 4-3 in Charlottesville. The tandem of juniors Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabreteche, France) and Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) earned a victory in doubles play, winning at the No. 3 position. They defeated Virginia's Kyle Montgomery and Lauren Bruch, 8-3.

In singles action, Maryland won three out of six matches with the Cavaliers. Freshman Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania) won in straight sets, beating UVa's Henriette Williams, 6-3, 6-2.
