PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Maryland women's tennis team split matches with ivy league schools Pennsylvania and Princeton this weekend, beating Princeton on Sunday, 6-1. Maryland lost to the University of Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon, 6-1.
Against Penn, Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabreteche, France) beat Caroline Stanislowski, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.
Against Princeton, the Terps won all three of their doubles matches, and five out of six singles matches. At the No. 2 seed, junior Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania) beat Princeton's Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Mateya McCoy, 8-3.
Marker also won her singles match against Princeton's Stephanie Berg, 6-1, 6-3. But, Andrea Fusea (Bucharest, Romania) and Jennifer Dent (Safety Harbor, Fla.) also won their singles matches in straight sets.
The Terps improve to 7-2 on the season, and will return to the court on March 7, when they travel to Virginia Tech. That match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
