CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Lisa Miller, Jordan Hansbrough and Oksana Krutiyenko each won in singles Friday to lead the Maryland women's tennis team's efforts on the opening day of the fourth annual Kitty Harrison Invitational which features some of the top schools in the country.
The Terps are one of the 12 teams, including ACC schools Duke, North Carolina State, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech, competing in the three-day, non team-scored event. North Carolina is playing host to the tournament.
Miller defeated Lauren Sabacinski of William & Mary, 6-4, 1-6, (10-7) and Hansbrough downed the Tribe's Anik Cepeda 3-6, 6-2, (10-8).
Krutiyenko upended Linzee Mabrey of UNC 1-6, 7-6 (4), (10-6)
The Terps are back in action Saturday and conclude play Sunday.
