COLLEGE PARK, Md – Mary Cushman had 13 kills and Amy Dion and Whitney Craigo combined for 35 assists as the Maryland volleyball picked up a critical 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) over Boston College Sunday afternoon in Comcast Pavilion.

Maryland (11-9, 3-5 ACC) was extremely proficient on the offensive side of things, posting a .301 hitting percentage. It was the first time the Terps had posted a hitting percentage better than .300 against an ACC foe since hitting .389 at Virginia on November 9, 2012.

Tied at 18 points apiece in the first set, the Terrapins took control with a pair of kills by Cushman and a kill by Adreene Elliott to take a 21-18 lead. Cushman then closed the set with an emphatic kill on a pass from Dion.

In the following set, Boston College (8-12, 0-8 ACC) jumped out to an early 7-5 lead, but a 5-1 Maryland run midway through the frame gave the Terps a commanding 18-13 lead. Ashleigh Crutcher tallied three of her six kills in the final four points to give Maryland a 25-21 set victory.

The Terrapins ramped up their hitting efficiency in the final frame, totaling just two attack errors with a .355 hitting clip to close the match, 25-20.

Katty Workman led the Eagles with 11 kills, while Kellie Barnum had 32 assists.

Maryland returns to action next weekend as it takes an important road trip south to face No. 13 North Carolina and North Carolina State. Be sure to follow @MDTerpsVolley on twitter for all updates.
