MacDonald Finishes Fourth at Cavalier Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Senior Dan MacDonald finished with an even-par total of 216 to place fourth individually Saturday at the Andrea Brotto Cavalier Classic played at the Birdwood Golf Course.

MacDonald fired an even-par 72 in Saturday's final round to post his low 54-hole total of the spring. He finished just three shots behind Andrea Signor of the Italian National Team, who won a playoff to earn medalist honors. Dustin Bray of North Carolina also finished at 213, with T.J. Blandford of Furman in third at 214.

As a team, Maryland shot a 311 on Saturday to place eighth. The Terrapins were at 904 in the 54-hole tournament, finishing just four shots out of sixth. UNC Wilmington rallied for a 293 on Saturday to take the team title at 870. Furman finished one shot behind.

Also for Maryland, Bobby MacWhinnie finished 21st at 223 after a 76 on Saturday, while freshman Matt Schall finished in a tie for 31st at 229 in his first tournament of the season. Tyler Witman was 51st at 238 for the Terps, while John Eades finished at 239 in a tie for 52nd.
