KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Freshman Sean Bosdosh earned his first collegiate top-10 finish tying for sixth at The Invitational at Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Terps had their best showing this afternoon carding a 304. Maryland came in 11th with a team score of 915 (306-305-304).
After two rounds Bosdosh was in second place with a two-under-par 142. He closed out the third round with a 77 for a three-over-par 219.
Junior John Popeck and senior Tom Hanna finished tied for 42nd with a score of 232. Popeck shaved off eight strokes from his first round total Tuesday afternoon for a three-over-par 74. Hanna had played his best on Monday with a 75 after the first 18 holes.
This weekend the Terps return home to host the Maryland Intercollegiate at the Hyatt River Marsh Golf Club September 18 and 19. Last year Popeck and Sean Brannan finished top-20 in the challenging field which included multiple Atlantic Coast Conference members.
At the end of the month, the Terrapins return to Rehoboth Beach, Del., for the Rehoboth Beach Fall Invite. Last season in the spring Maryland claimed the crown for the second straight season. Popeck led the Terps with a second place finish at the one-day tournament with a one-under-par 141.
October has Maryland taking a trip to ACC country in Raleigh, N.C., for the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on the 4th and 5th. The following weekend the Terps close out their fall slate in Akron, Ohio, at the Firestone Invitational. Last fall Maryland competed only as individuals. Senior Andrew Kay was the team's top performer coming in fifth.
