COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's golf team will wrap up the 2011 regular season Saturday when it travels south to Charlottesville, Va. for the Cavalier Classic at the par-72, 6,875-yard Birdwood Golf Course.
Head Coach Tom Hanna and the Terps will compete against seven other teams in the 24th annual classic: Coastal Carolina, Delaware, George Mason, James Madison, Longwood, Seton Hall, Virginia and Virginia's B-team. Individual competitors from Liberty and Richmond will also compete in the event.
In last year's Cavalier Classic, Maryland placed seventh out of 11 squads with current Terrapins Tom Hanna III and Sean Brannan tying for 37th individually at 155 overall. Two strokes back, Joey Rice tied for 47th at 157 and Andrew Kay finished tied at 62nd at 163.
The 36-hole tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Terps teeing off in the second group at approximately 8:20 a.m.
Though there is no live scoring for the event, Cavalier Classic results will be posted on VirginiaSports.com and UMTerps.com.
