Men's Golf to Play in VCU Shootout

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a two-week break, the University of Maryland men's golf team will participate in the VCU Shootout Monday and Tuesday at Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.

Each team will play 36 holes Monday and the final 18 Tuesday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start both days. Other teams participating include: VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Virginia, Wichita State, UNC Wilmington, UNC Greensboro, Penn State, Richmond, Iowa, Charlotte and Mercer.

The tournament marks Maryland's second of the fall season, after finishing sixth two weeks ago at the Maryland Intercollegiate.

Sophomore John Popeck is the Terps' low scorer thus far, ranking fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 71.67 scoring average. Fellow sophomore Sean Brannan ranks sixth in the ACC with a 72.33 average.
