COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's golf team will participate in the Firestone Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, Monday and Tuesday.
The Terrapins are one of 12 teams in the event, which will take place on the prestigious par-72, 7,125-yard North Course at Firestone Country Club. The other teams playing in the event include: Akron, Eastern Michigan, Kansas State, Kentucky, Marquette, Michigan State, Pacific, Rhode Island, St. Mary's, Toledo and Western Carolina.
Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday with a shotgun start. The first 36 holes will be played Monday with the final 18 scheduled for Tuesday.
Sophomore John Popeck has been Maryland's top golfer through two events. Popeck is currently eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 71.67 per-round average.
