Terps in Eighth at VCU Golf

RICHMOND, Va. - John Eades fired an opening-round 66 and was in a tie for 14th place individually after Monday's two rounds of the VCU / Mattaponi Springs Shootout being played at the Mattaponi Springs Golf Club.

Eades had a two-round total of 142 after the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event. He was nine shots out of the individual lead, held by Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest, who shot 133.

As a team, Maryland was in eighth place after the first two rounds with a 580 total. The Terrapins were just six shots out of fifth place heading into Tuesday's final round.

Wake Forest held the team lead after shooting identical 279 rounds on Monday. The Demon Deacons held an eight-shot lead over Tulsa in the team standings.

Also for the Terps, Tully Coyle was tied for 39th at 148, along with teammate Hunter Bendall. Tyler Witman and J.J. Occi were one shot behind at 149, sitting in a tie for 48th.
