COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's golf team will open its spring season at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
Now in its 14th year, the two-day tournament will begin on Monday at the Palmetto, the fourth-oldest course in the United States.
The Terrapins will compete against 17 other golf programs including top-20 programs No. 3 Alabama and No. 18 Virginia. Also participating is: Akron, Chattanooga, Clemson, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Liberty, Presbyterian, host South Carolina-Aiken, Wofford and Vanderbilt.
Leading the Terps in their first tournament play since the fall are seniors Tom Hanna III, Andrew Kay and Donnie Shin along with juniors Stephen Bosdosh, Chris Miller and Joey Rice. Sophomore William Wiseman and freshman Sean Bosdosh round out Maryland's 2010-11 roster.
In the fall, the Terrapins and coach Tom Hanna finished four tournaments in the top-10, capping the season by winning the Rehboth Beach Invittional for the third consecutive year thanks to a 281 team score, 14 strokes ahead of host Pensylvania.
After this week's tournament in Aiken, the Terps will compete in five additional events, including the Rehboth Beach Spring Invitational, NC State Invitational and ACC Championship.
