Eades Leads Terps to Second at Hoya Golf

LEESBURG, Va. - John Eades carded a 1-over-par 73 to lead the University of Maryland to a second-place finish in the team standings Sunday at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational played at the Landsdowne Resort.

Eades, a Terrapin senior from Charlotte, N.C., finished fourth indivdiually with a 2-under total of 142 in the 36-hole event. Eastern Michigan's Graham Hill won the individual event at 139, using his opening-round 67 to cruise to the win.

Kyle Murphy of Marquette was second at 140, with Penn State's Chad Bricker in third at 141.

Maryland posted a 291 in Sunday's second round to finish with a 4-over-par total of 580. The Terps finished second behind Eastern Michigan, which shot 290 for at 578 total. Maryland entered the final round just one shot behind EMU in the team standings.

Marquette and East Carolina had the best team rounds of the day at 286, but finished third and fourth, respectively.

Also for the Terrapins, Kyle Nathan and Tyler Witman tied for 14th at 146 after Witman shot a 72 on Sunday, Tully Coyle tied for 17th at 147 and Matt Schall closed with a 73 to tie for 29th at 150.

The Hoya Invitational finished the four-event fall schedule for the Terrapins' men's team.
