Maryland Opens Play at The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges

Jonesborough, Tenn. - Maryland's Chris Gold shot a 1-under-par 71 in the first round as the Maryland Men's Golf Team opened play at The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Tournament at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.

The junior's score tied for 11th best in the first round. Maryland's Brendan Tracy, a sophomore, also had a solid round, posting an even-par 72, tied for 23rd. Freshman Donnie Shin shot a 76 for the Terps.

As a team the Terps scored a 279, tied for 13th at 9-over-par. East Tennessee State, at 6-under, takes a one stroke lead over the University of Kentucky into the second day of action.

Kentucky's Ben Fuqua posted the low round of the day Friday with a 5-under-par 67. Three other golfers were tied at 68.

The tournament continues with second round action today, before Sunday's final round.
