COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's golf team will seek its fourth straight top-5 finish at the Firestone invitational in Akron, Ohio, Oct. 11-12. The Terps will play on the par-72, 7,060 yard North Course.
In their last outing, the Terps took fourth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina State. Junior John Popeck finished in a tie for fifth at 2-under-par. As a team, Maryland, led by head coach Tom Hanna, shot 858 over three rounds.
Thirteen other schools will participate in the Firestone Invitational: Akron, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, New Mexico State, Notre Dame, St. Mary's College, Toledo, Wichita State and Xavier.
The tournament will begin Monday with teams playing 36 holes. On Tuesday, play will resume with the final 18.
Following the Firestone Invitational, the Terps will finish their fall season at the Georgetown Invitational, starting on Oct. 18.
