ORLANDO, Fla. - Matt Schall fired an even-par round of 72 to lead University of Maryland players Friday during the second round of the NCAA East Regional men's golf championship being played at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club.

Schall was in a tie for 39th place with a 149 total after two rounds. He began the day in a tie for 80th place and had a strong round despite more difficult conditions that added nearly a full stroke the the field's scoring average.

The Terrapin junior, who usually plays in the fifth spot in the lineup, started on the 10th hole and bogeyed the 13th. He rallied with back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th, then parred 10 of the remaining 11 holes to shoot Maryland's best round of the tournament thus far.
