COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's golf team returns to the golf course after a three-week break from tournament play. The Terrapins head to Williamsburg, Va., to take part in the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by the College of William & Mary.
The tournament consists of 22 teams competing through the 6,831 yard, par-71 River Course at Kingsmill Resort. Both days of competition has tee times running from 8-10 a.m. ET off the first and 10th tees.
Maryland last played at the championship course in 2006 where they finished second out of 22 competing squads. The tournament played through just one round in which the Terrapins carded a nine-over-par 293. Former Terp Tyler Witman led the team, tying for fifth and matching par on the course (71). No one registered more than five strokes over par.
Last time out sophomore John Popeck headed Maryland with a top-30 finish after he birdied four holes in the third round for a low-round 72. Junior Sean Brannan had the next best round with a 74 in the final round of play. The Terps' improved their performance by almost 20 points by their final trip out on the course with a 297.
So far during the 2009-10 season, Maryland has recorded two top-10 finished and four top-15.
Other teams joining Terrapins on the River Course are Boston College, DePaul, Delaware, James Madison, George Mason, Georgetown, St. Joseph's, Drexel, Towson, Bucknell, Army, Rutgers, Radford, Binghamton, Missouri, Connecticut, Southern Illinois, Princeton, St. Bonaventure, Central Connecticut State and William and Mary.
