CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Freshman William Wiseman shot six under in the second round to tie for fourth and the University of Maryland men's golf team placed third at the Cavalier Classic Saturday at the Birdwood Golf Course.
After finishing the morning session at four over, Wiseman shot a six-under 66 in the second round to finish tied for fourth.
Joey Rice and Sean Bosdosh finished in a five-way tie for 16th at 150. In his final regular season event, Tom Hanna III tied for 26th at 154 while Sean Brannan hit 158 over two rounds to tie for 39th.
Virginia-B Team's Ben Rusch shot two under in the first round and seven under in the second to take the individual title. The Cavaliers' Will Collins and Coastal Carolina's Tripp McAllister tied for second at 140 with Wiseman and Longwood's Bobby Fox tying for fourth at 142.
With a combined 301 after the first round, Maryland found itself in fourth place, but after a two-under round two, the Terps finished in third at 587.
The Cavaliers claimed the team championship for the second consecutive year with a 574. Coastal Carolina shot a 581 for second with Virginia-B Team in fourth at 600, 13 strokes behind the Terps in third. At 603, Seton Hall placed fifth to round out the top five squads.
