ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Senior Tyler Witman opened with an eagle on the first hole and added two birdies to fire a 2-over-par round of 74 to lead University of Maryland players Saturday in the final round of the 2007 NCAA East Regional Championship.

The event was played at the Lakeside Course at the Golf Club of Georgia, with Georgia Tech serving as the host institution.

Witman's 74 gave him a 54-hole total of 231 and moved him up 15 spots on the leader board on the final day. He finished in a tie for 93rd place overall in his final tournament as a collegian.

Sophomore transfer Chris Gold led Maryland in the individual standings, tying for 46th overall after shooting a final-round 77 that matched his score from Friday. Gold opened with a 69 on Thursday, shooting Maryland's best round in an NCAA Tournament since Del Ponchock's 68 in 1994.

Senior Skip Clasper, making his second appearance of the year in the Terrapin lineup, also eagled the par-5 first hole on Saturday, adding one birdie en route to a 75. Clasper tied for 71st with a 227 total.

Matt Schall shot a final-round 81 and matched Witman's total of 231, while J.J. Occi tied for 138th with a 254 total.

As a team, Maryland shot a 307 on the final day for a 912 total. The Terrapins placed 20th in the team standings after entering the tournament as the 23rd seed. Maryland finished two strokes behind 34th-ranked Chattanooga in the team standings.

Billy Horschel of Florida shot a 68 on Saturday to climb into a tie for first place individually with a 6-under-par total of 210. Brendon Todd of Georgia also finished at 210, one stroke better than teammate Chris Kirk and Kyle Stanley of Clemson.

Top-ranked Georgia posted a score of 7-under-par 281 to run away with the team title at 855. Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech tied for second at 867. Clemson and Coastal Carolina needed a playoff for the 10th and final team spot for the NCAA Championships. Both teams tied for 10th at 884 and needed the extra hole to break the tie.

The top 10 teams and two individuals not on qualifying teams advanced to the NCAA Championships, to be held May 30 to June 2 in Williamsburg, Va.
