Terps Finish Fourth at Bridgestone Golf

GREENSBORO, N.C. - John Eades, Blaine Peffley and Tyler Witman each shot rounds of 2-over-par 74 on Tuesday to spark the University of Maryland to a fourth-place finish in the team standings at the Bridgestone Golf Intercollegiate men's tournament.

Eades completed the rain-shortened event with a 2-over-par total of 146, tying him for 10th place individually. Witman and Peffley each tied for 13th at 147 over the two rounds. Monday's second round was wiped out due to rain and tournament officials shortened the event to 36 holes from the originally scheduled 54 holes.

Also for Maryland, Matt Schall tied for 21st individually with a two-round total of 150, with Tully Coyle tied for 48th at 156.

Maryland shot a 299 as a team on Tuesday, finishing with a 590 total and in fourth place. Lamar carded the best team round for the second straight day, shooting a 282 for a 563 total and the team victory. Lamar held the first-round lead after a 281 and posted a score that was 11 shots better than any other team on Tuesday.

Xavier was second at 577 with Wichita State in third at 586.

First-round individual leader Oliver Bekker of Lamar shot 69 on Tuesday for a 135 total and earned medalist honors. Andy Pope of Xavier was second at 138. Lamar had individuals finish first, third and fourth in the event, held at the Forest Oaks Country Club.

Maryland is now off until competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on April 21 through 23.
