RALEIGH, N.C. -Junior Joey Rice finished in the top-10 individually and the University of Maryland men's golf team shot up four spots Sunday to take sixth place at the Wolfpack Spring Open in Raleigh, N.C.
After leading the team in Saturday's first-round action, Rice continued over the final 18 holes Sunday as he fired off a second consecutive 73 to tie for seventh place individually.
Behind Rice, Sean Bosdosh used a second-round 72 to finish at 148 and tie for 13th place. William Wiseman tied for 27th after shooting a three-over 75 on Sunday. Tom Hanna III and Sean Brannan both tied for 50th with Uncards of 157.
Lamar University's M.J. Daffue took the individual title with a three-under 139 on the weekend. Jake Katz of Binghamton and Xavier Feyaerts of Lamar tied for second.
Ending Saturday's first round with a team score of 307, Maryland shot up the leaderboards on Sunday after hitting a 295. Coach Tom Hanna and the Terps have now placed in the top-10 in three of its five spring tournaments and eight of 11 since the fall.
Richmond overtook Lamar for the team title after shooting its second 291 Sunday. Lamar, which held a one-stroke lead entering the final round, shot a 297 on the day, giving the team a 587 overall. North Carolina earned third place with a 589 while host NC State took fourth at 596.
The Terps will square off in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships next weekend, beginning on Friday, April 22.
