AIKEN, S.C. - University of Maryland senior John Eades shot a second-round 68 Monday to move into a three-way tie for the lead heading into the final round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate men's golf tournament.
Eades had a two-round total of 141, which tied him with Andrea Perrino of VCU and Jordan Irwin of Houston for the individual lead. They were two shots better than six players who were in at 143.
As a team, Maryland was in eighth place after the first two rounds of the tournament, which were both played on Monday. Maryland had rounds of 301 and 292 for a 593 total, two shots behind Francis Marion. VCU held the team lead after 36 holes at 574, three shots better than the College of Charleston.
Also for Maryland, transfer Blaine Peffley had rounds of 75 and 72 to tie for 23rd at 147, Tyler Witman was tied for 38th at 151 after a second-round 75, Tully Coyle was tied for 49th at 154 and Skip Clasper shot 162 for 63rd place.
The final round will take place on Tuesday.
