COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
University of Maryland's men's golf team resumes its spring schedule this Monday when it travels to Williamsburg, Va., to compete in the William & Mary Invitational.
The tournament will be the first for the Terps this spring against its NCAA District II rivals. The Terps are currently the second-ranked team in District II.
Joining Maryland in the 17-team field include host William & Mary, Elon, George Mason, Georgetown, George Washington, Hampton, Iona, James Madision, Lehigh, Liberty, Rutgers, St. John's, Towson, Richmond, Navy and Villanova.
In fall competition, the Terps posted winning records against 12 of 13 teams involved in the tournament. Maryland was 1-1 in head-to-head matchups vs. JMU.
The 54-hole tournament will be conducted at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
Head coach Tom Hanna's Terps, who are looking to secure a bid to the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive season, are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate earlier this week in Aiken, S.C. The Terps played solidly at the 15-team tournament won by College of Charleston. Freshman John Eades led the Terps in scoring for the second time in as many spring tournaments.
