Jason Rodenhaver took over as the Maryland men's golf head coach in 2011 and served as as the director of intercollegiate golf and oversaw the men’s and women’s programs for three years. In the spring of 2014, Rodenhaver solely took over the men's team, as a women's head coach was hired.

Prior to his role as the director of intercollegiate golf for both teams, Rodenhaver became the first head coach of the women’s golf program in 1999. Overall, he served as the women’s golf head coach for 12 years and has been associated with Maryland golf as a head coach, assistant, and student-athlete for over two decades.

“We would like to sincerely thank Jason for his commitment and long-standing service to the University of Maryland men’s and women’s golf programs. We’re excited that he will continue to lead our men’s program,” Anderson said. “As an alum of the men’s golf program, he truly appreciates what it means to be a part of Maryland athletics. We applaud the outstanding job he’s done over the last three years as the director of intercollegiate golf. With our transition to the Big Ten, we felt this was an important step for both our men’s and women’s golf programs.”

Rodenhaver led the women’s program to six NCAA Regionals appearances, 18 team wins, 10 All-ACC honorees, 13 Academic All-Americans and seven individual tournament wins. In his three years with the men’s team, he's helped the Terrapins make six NCAA Regionals individual appearances. His teams have won the President’s Cup five consecutive times and have earned three All-Conference honors.

Sean Bosdosh was named to the All-ACC Team in 2013, then went on to compete in NCAA Regionals that year and the year after (2014). Rodenhaver has recruited high-level talent to College Park. David Kocher has made three straight NCAA Regionals appearances (2015, 2016, 2017) and earned All-Big Ten honors in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Kocher finished tied for fourth at the Big Ten Championships, earning a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team.

In his senior season, Tom Harris earned an NCAA Regionals big with Kocher, making two Terrapins in the NCAA field in 2016.

“I sincerely enjoyed the opportunity to be the director of intercollegiate golf over the past three years in addition to my responsibilities as the head coach of the women’s program since its inception,” Rodenhaver said. “Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many outstanding student-athletes and I look forward to continuing to do so in my role as the head coach of the men’s golf team.”

Rodenhaver played three seasons for the Terrapins and led the team to a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championship in 1994. That finish was the best for Maryland since 1978. He was a two-year captain of the men's golf team and participated in the NCAA East Regional in his senior season.
